    Who should apply?

Faculty developers, faculty members, instructional designers/technologists and librarians with an interest in supporting teaching innovation. Educators from local institutions outside AMICAL network will also be invited to join the event. Participation will entail committing to the full 3-day event, after which participants will receive a certificate.

This AMICAL initiative targets participants that demonstrate a readiness to develop sustained local teaching innovation initiatives with some kind of institution-wide impact. To this end, participants in academic leadership roles (deans, programs and center directors) are encouraged to apply. AMICAL members who are currently in, or being considered for, roles in establishing centers for learning and teaching should specify this in their application.

All accepted applicants will be expected to commit to the Expectations of participants.

    Application review criteria

While we hope to accommodate all applicants, event space is limited. We will select participants primarily based on the coherence of their application responses, in particular the following:

    • strength and clarity of interest in the event
    • preparedness for active engagement in the event based on existing experience/expertise and proposed contribution to the program
    • breadth or depth of expected benefits and impact of the event (personally, locally, etc.)

As a last resort, we may consider the order in which applications are received.

In vetting requests for AMICAL funding, we will be using the criteria above, but we will also be evaluating how much the institution has benefited from AMICAL funding in the recent past.
