AMICAL 2019 will be held 29 March to 1 April at the American University in Cairo, marking the consortium’s 16th annual meeting and conference and AUC’s centennial.
This year’s theme is “Openness in teaching and research: Broadening our horizons for the digital future.”
Basic information about the event is provided below and the Call for Proposals is already open, but we’ll launch the full event site later this fall with an overview of anticipated features of the program, information about financial support, accommodations, and the venue.
The AMICAL Conference brings together staff and faculty of our member institutions who are passionate about improving the learning experience of their students through innovative and effective use of libraries, information and technology. The Conference helps these groups respond to the unique challenges and rich opportunities at member institutions, where internationally diverse student and staff populations adapt the American liberal arts curricular model to their regional environments.
With highly interactive presentations, workshops and discussions, the program combines invited keynotes with peer speakers to create an event filled with expertise, local relevance, innovation and inspiration.
We’re calling for proposals in two rounds this year, to give us more time to work with members on shaping their proposals. We’re also hoping that this model will allow members more influence on the overall shape of the event, by sharing ideas with us – ideas that you’re willing to invest time in developing – earlier in the program planning process.
