Attendees wishing to seek other accommodation may want to consider the suggestions below. Note that attendees not staying at the conference hotel (the Renaissance Cairo Mirage City Hotel) will be responsible for making their own booking and transportation arrangements.
Some attendees may wish to stay in central Cairo, which is closer to a variety of sights as well as the downtown cultural scene and nightlife. However, for attendees considering staying in central Cairo during the conference, please take into account that due to distance and traffic it takes at least an hour to an hour and a half of travel time to arrive by taxi at the New Cairo campus. Public transportation options are not viable.
A variety of 5-star hotels are located near the Nile in downtown Cairo, as well as less expensive hotels (some like the Windsor Hotel with historical character). Near downtown is Gezira island and its Zamalek neighborhood, which is another option for lodging.

Transport to and from the AUC campus
A conference bus will be available every day to carry attendees from the conference hotel to the AUC campus and back.
Attendees not staying at the conference hotel are responsible for ensuring their own transportation between hotel and the conference venues.
