AMICAL 2020 will be held 15–18 January at the American University of Kuwait, marking the consortium’s 17th annual meeting and conference.
The conference is open to all interested staff and faculty from AMICAL member institutions, as well as selected individuals invited by the organizers.
The Call for Proposals will be announced in June and registration will open by mid-September. We’ll be posting details about the program, financial support opportunities, accommodation, and the venue over the coming months.
Basic information about the event is provided below.
The AMICAL Conference brings together staff and faculty from our member institutions who are passionate about improving the learning experience of their students through innovative and effective use of libraries, information and technology. The Conference helps participants respond to the unique challenges and rich opportunities of our member institutions, where internationally diverse faculty, staff and students adapt the American liberal arts curricular model to their regional environments.
Although we’ve yet to begin shaping the program, we expect that the conference will be of interest to: librarians, faculty development coordinators, disciplinary faculty, instructional technologists and designers, IT directors, and academic leadership.
With highly interactive presentations, workshops and discussions, the program combines invited international colleagues with peer speakers to create an event mixing global perspective, local relevance, and topical expertise.
AMICAL’s consortial programs generally aim for collaboration of librarians, technologists and faculty from member campuses, and this will be reflected in the Conference program as well. Expect to see a program that addresses collaborative approaches to digital liberal arts, information and digital literacies, library and technology leadership, access to scholarship, and other topics that our committees, interest groups and members have identified as being of importance.
The Call for Proposals will be announced to AMICAL members in June.
In the meantime, AMICAL members may share suggestions with the Program Committee by replying in the “Suggestion box for the AMICAL 2020 program” topic on AMICAL Connect.
