InfoLit MeetUp (Fall 2026) – Information Literacy Advocacy

AMICAL’s Information Literacy Interest Group invites you to another “InfoLit MeetUp” event. They are informal conversations on information literacy topics important to AMICAL members.

The topic for this session is “Information Literacy Advocacy,” which is in line with the AMICAL’s Information Literacy Committee’s overall theme for  2026/2027.

In recent years, various literacies such as media literacies, digital literacy and AI literacy to name a few have become very prominent. As new forms of literacy emerge and gain attention, important questions arise: where does information literacy (IL) stand today? Has the IL movement lost some of its visibility or is it simply evolving to respond to a changing information landscape? What does information literacy need to look like today? What elements need to be updated, expanded or reconsidered?

This session invites us to explore questions together and to discuss how we can make a stronger case for IL within our institutions, curricula and communities.

This informal conversation will be driven by participants’ contribution and discussion. Please join to share your expertise and experiences.

Who should attend? AMICAL librarians, technologists, and faculty members involved in information literacy.
