The deadline for this year’s final round of Small Grants applications has now passed, and the program is temporarily closed. We’ll be revising the guidelines and then reopening the program in May under the framework of our 2018-2021 grant from the Mellon Foundation. An announcement will be made on AMICAL Connect when the program reopens and new applications may be submitted.
AMICAL’s Small Grants program is funded through the consortium’s 2015-2018 grant from the Mellon Foundation, “Promoting AMICAL Library Leadership, Faculty Collaboration and Digital Initiatives to Strengthen Liberal Arts Abroad.”
The Small Grants program aims to fund smaller, member-initiated activities that support AMICAL’s mission, in particular in the following areas:
- Professional development (with special emphasis on leadership in the areas of libraries and educational technology)
- Emerging technologies and practice (innovations in library services, digital pedagogy, etc.)
- Digital initiatives (digital scholarship projects, digital collection building, etc.)
Small Grants can support initiatives of individual AMICAL colleagues, of a single institution, or of a small number of member institutions in partnership. Larger initiatives, for example workshops open to colleagues from all AMICAL institutions, should be proposed to the Coordinating Committee as an AMICAL-sponsored event or project, not through the Small Grants program. Small Grants cannot be used to support participation in the AMICAL Conference or other AMICAL-sponsored events, which have their own procedures for requesting support.
