Renee Hobbs is an American scholar and educator who works in the field of media literacy education. She is Professor of Communication Studies at the Harrington School of Communication and Media and founder of the Media Education Lab at the University of Rhode Island, where she co-directs the Graduate Certificate in Digital Literacy. Her book, Mind Over Media: Propaganda Education for a Digital Age won the 2021 PROSE Award from the American Association of Publishers. She has published 12 books and more than 150 scholarly articles on digital and media literacy and secured over $4 million in grant and philanthropic funding to advance the theory and practice of media literacy education in the United States and around the world.
