Purpose of the Pilot
  • Facilitate the management of ILL requests between AMICAL members and libraries worldwide
  • Increase the visibility of AMICAL members’ collections among the consortium and among scholars worldwide
  • Support the consortium’s ILL, collection development and acquisitions projects

  • Add, delete holdings using a batch process

Batchload to gather library holdings
  • OCLC needs a way to identify materials held by AMICAL libraries
  • Batchload library’s records to match to records in WorldCat
  • Creates core union catalog for AMICAL libraries

Steps in Batch Process
  • Complete Batchload form
  • Export records from local catalogs
  • Send files to OCLC for analysis
    • FTP is preferred method; other options available
  • Batchload Project Definition is created
    • Conversion requirements identified
    • Estimate # records that will match
